“ Came here with some friends of ours the other day. I've only been here once before probably around 20 years or so ago. Overall, it was great just like I remembered. I love the ambiance upon entering the restaurant/museum. Lots of old, odd cool things to look at while wandering through. Old cars on display are sweet. One in particular would look great parked in my driveway! But I digress... On to the main event. We all ordered the fried chicken specialty with one specific side and endless other sides. The good: corn fritters were terrific. Bean salad was really good. Cottage cheese is cottage cheese; good. The great: the fried chicken. Probably not the best I've ever had, but it's really solid fried chicken. There really was no bad, but a couple things were just blah. The mediocre: the coleslaw and Mac and cheese. These are the only 2 items we had that I could do without. Overall, it's a great place and I recommend! Service was good and ambiance was good. For some reason there was no heat whatsoever in the bathroom...but whatever. We will be back if in the area again. ”
“ We used to come here as kid's and there are plenty of accurate reviews. I'll be very specific to foreign tourists. This place is situated in a part of the suburban Chicago area that was very recently farmland. Trekking out to White Fence used to be reserved for special occasions. I'm saying that because it's now situated amidst boring unscenic distribution centers. That doesn't detract from the overwhelming authenticity Americana of this place. It's gonzo Americana Disney would envy and the FOOD WSS GREAT! We expected hackneyed tourist food but found crispy juicy chicken, house-made garnishes and dessert, great coffee. Wisconsinites will recognized "Supper Club" groove. It's good food. Good crunch to Cole slaw, wonderful texture beans , bright beets. Skip the 'taters' if you're a foodie. Chicken was absolutely perfect. We would travel 50 minutes each way to enjoy this place. Reservations for parties greater than 8 only. Expect an entertaining 30-45 minute wait on peak weekend dinner slots. Wander. The kids Will remember. ”
“ This place has been around forever - and every time I make it back here - it is a great meal every time. I've had fried chicken all around the country. I still rate this fire chicken the best fried chicken you'll find. They get the crust on the outside...with such a perfect lightness, but such crispness. And using pressure cooking techniques, the chicken always comes out moist and right. The relish sides are always quite good. The kidney bean salad is very very golden. The corn fritter fried dough balls; they're hard to stop eating! And last but not least: that yellow chicken gravy...gosh is it a unique great taste and flavor. Suggest everybody to try this place. Because once you do - you'll be hooked!! ”
“ First time (finally) at the OG and it didn't disappoint! We got there just before open and got our number, and were called to our table in about 10 min. The lobby museum is amazing-- quite the history. We were seated in the bigger group area in back and had a nice booth. Our server was friendly and efficient with quick refills. The chicken? Likely the best fried chicken I've ever had -- perfectly crisp with very little oil residue and oh so moist. The sides are old school and very good-- cottage cheese, kidney bean salad included. The sides were bottomless and we enjoyed every bite. Oh and visiting the alpacas afterwards was fun! ”
“ I cannot get over how MASSIVE this restaurant is. It's remarkable! It's got a really old style with a lot of vintage trinkets. Groups, kids, and older people would really like this setting; it almost feels like a museum. It's been open since the 50s and has a cool old school vibe. If you're eating anything here, it would be a crime not to order the fried chicken. It's fantastic! They do bottomless relishes and fritters for the table which we love. We especially like the kidney bean salad and the fritters. So delicious! It is truly some great comfort food. If you have time, be sure to explore the grounds, animals, museum area, and train set up! There's really a lot to see. ”
“ this place was definitely unique and fun I never been to a restaurant that has soo many antiques and of course chickens on display. I loved all the machines I like the egg laying chicken machine as well as the tarot card reader those were super fun. the place is huge plenty of seating and service was great. I got the broasted chicken finger meal super hot crispy delicious. before the chicken they bring unlimited corn fritters which by the way we're amazing they tasted like funnel cake more of like a dessert along with beets kidney bean salad cole slaw and cottage cheese. I enjoyed the beats kidney bean salad and corn fritter the most. couldn't stop eating the corn fritters they were that delicious. I definitely will be back again as my experience there was a fun one and the food was delicious and tasty! ”
“ I have not been here for at least 30 years and while some things have changed, most of it has not and it was just as I remembered. We had the farm chicken , four pieces of fried chicken with several sides. The chicken was fresh, juicy and delicious, just as I remembered it. The sides are cottage cheese, bean salad, beets, coleslaw and corn fritters. The beets were my favorite and if you want seconds , no problem. The place is like walking into a museum, lots of antiques, memorabilia from years past, antique cars and games. They were setting up a holiday village, which was at least 12 feet long. This is not a place you go often, but I was not disappointed and it brought back many memories. ”
“ EXCUSE ME?! Why didn't I know about this place sooner? This is a must go to and then go again because it is that delicious! This location offers a dine in restaurant and carry out option as well. It is everything farm like, including farm animals that you can feed - it's super cool. The inside is very spacious with lots of character. Aside from multiple seating areas there are also lots of rooms you can walk through and just take in all the decor. We had Amy as our server and she was attentive, kind, friendly and provided top quality service. My fiancé and I both ordered the farm chicken speciality which came with 5 relishes that the table shares, half a chicken each and a side of your potato choice (or Mac n cheese). This is hands down the best fried chicken I've ever had. The batter is light and crispy, the chicken meat is juicy and cooked perfectly and falls right off the bone. The relishes are just as great, very tasty and you are also able to get refills of them. My favorite were the kidney beans and corn fritters. Oh! Do get the gravy, it's phenom!! ”
